OPERA OMNIA 3
Lo stato dell’arte

2019

“Opera Omnia” is an artistic project willing to talk about the greatest authors and genres with a particular attention to the educational function of the staging. Consistently with Teatro Magro’s activity, the choice of a monographic structure allows to select and broadcast the most meaningful works of a single author or a specific trend developing dramaturgic focal points in several tableaus that respond to an original and alternative scenic interpretation.
The idea behind “Opera Omnia” is to select around ten of the main theatre works of an author or to choose the main influential events of a trend and to condensate them on stage for an easy reading. Not a simplistic shortcut, but a call for research to a more and more distracted audience, in order to reverse the process and move, rather, towards the will for deepening.

What is art? What can be defined as artistic or cultural? Hand in hand with human evolution, the concept of art and culture changes. In the past centuries, the artistic genius doubtlessly stood out against a less accentuated level of culture and alphabetisation. The artistic genius was considered as such because he was the pure and only creator of art, the creation and diffusion means were exclusive and limited. The current informatic revolution and the democratisation of knowledge and information gave everybody access to the means of artistic expression.

The dramaturgical and performative structure, made of independent scenic tableaus, makes “Opera Omnia 3 – Lo stato dell’arte” similar to a museum exhibition. Just as in a guided tour, the audience is accompanied through the exhibition. In a continuous change of roles and characters, the actors are at the same time performers and museum guards. They themselves lead the audience and continuously set up and disassemble the stage, whose lifetime is limited to the passage of people.

Art can’t survive without the audience.

The dynamism of this structures offers the chance to enjoy every setting in a different way: as he does with an artwork, the viewer chooses his own point of view. “Opera Omnia 3 – Lo stato dell’arte” can be staged in unconventional spaces (museums, galleries, non-theatrical spaces). The opportunity to pair it with an already existing exposition immediately makes the performance a cultural operation that doesn’t end in itself, but also a chance for renewal and attraction of the permanent proposal of an exhibition space.
